McLean Select Basketball
About McLean Select Basketball
Overview
McLean Select Youth Basketball (“MSB” or “McLean Select”) is a group of volunteer coaches and players within the overall McLean Youth Basketball (“MYB”) organization. McLean Select, sometimes referred to as “Travel” or “County League”, provides highly skilled boys and girls – grades 5 through 8* – with an opportunity to compete in a higher level of competitive basketball with other Fairfax County communities.
McLean Select Basketball competes in the Fairfax County Youth Basketball League (“FCYBL”), a not-for-profit organization comprised of 24 member youth clubs and recreation centers in the greater Northern Virginia area. The FCYBL has a 14-game regular season and a season-end tournament for the top teams in each division (D1, D2, and D3**) and each age group (5th Grade, 6th Grade, 7th Grade, and 8th Grade) for boys and girls.
Every select team is subject to FCYBL player restrictions based on zip code, grade and age to maintain consistent community-based and age-appropriate teams - see http://www.fcybl.org/Page.asp?n=16256&org=fcybl.
Only players residing in Fairfax County may play on a McLean Select Team (see Zip Codes below). The McLean teams are allowed two zip code exceptions for Fairfax County residents that are outside of the assigned zip codes to the McLean Select program.
These zip codes are currently 22101, 22102, 22182, 22066, 22043, and 22046. Teams playing in the FCYBL are not allowed to roster any students who are playing on a high school team (Freshman, JV or Varsity).
