2010 Girls' 11U and 12U Division 1 Teams Finish 2nd in League Championships
In the 2010 FCYBL post-season tournament, two McLean Select teams advanced to the finals.
McLean Blaze: Girls' 11-Under Division 1 McLean Blaze 11U. The Girls' 11U McLean Blaze, the regular season G11-1 champions, lost a heartbreaker to co-champion Vienna by the final score of 34-33 to take second place in the post-season.
In a back-and-forth game, the Blaze trailed by five points with less than two minutes to go, before scoring six unanswered points to take a 33-32 lead with less than a minute to go.
After making a steal with 7 seconds to go, Vienna got fouled going to the basket, whereupon their player stepped up and made two straight free throws to win the game. While the final was a disappointment, it was a fantastic game to end a great season for the Blaze.
McLean Girls' 12-Under Division 1 McLean G12-1. The McLean G12-1 team advanced to the finals after defeating two-time defending champion Vienna 64-63 in overtime on a free throw with no time left on the clock.
In the finals, the McLean squad, third place finishers during the regular season, ran out of gas, falling to Chantilly.
