McLean Select Basketball
Coach Chris Leggett, Grade 7 Boys, A Team
Chris Leggett is the coach for the 7th grade boys D1 team for 2022/2023. Chris has been coaching McLean County Basketball since 2001, and became a head coach in 2009. Chris has spent equal time coaching all four grades, 5th through 8th grade, doing three full rotations over his 12 years as a head coach. Over those 12 years, Chris' teams have won the D1 county title five times, including four undefeated seasons. He has won the FCYBL Coach of the Year award six times. While Coach Leggett is proud of the results on the court, he is prouder of the lifelong friendships that his years of coaching have produced.
Coach Leggett believes in a defense first philosophy. If you work hard on defense, there will always be a role for you on one of his teams. He likes the game to be fun for the kids and favors a full court, up tempo style game. His goal is to teach kids to compete in the right way, and to prepare kids to be ready to play high school basketball when they leave the McLean County Program.
Chris is married, with a daughter (Greysen, 7 years old), lives and works in Vienna, and has been a "local" his entire life, with the exception of college and graduate school. He attended Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology ('91), graduated from Bucknell University ('95) and received a JD/MBA from Wake Forest University ('99).
