McLean Select Basketball
Coach Ted Kim, Grade 8 Girls, Division 1B Team
Ted has coached for McLean Youth Basketball’s Developmental and House Leagues, and also in the Fairfax Stars AAU league. This is his fourth year coaching McLean Select Basketball. His Division 2 Teams have moved up and played Division 1 in the Fairfax County Youth Basketball League the past two seasons, and they will play Division 1 again this year for the third consecutive seaonn. His Seventh Grade Girls team won the Fairfax Stars AAU League Seventh Grade Girls Winter Division Championship last year.
He serves as the Commissioner for McLean Youth Basketball’s Sixth Grade Girls League. Ted played high school basketball at Langley High School. His goal for his players is to have fun, always play to their fullest abilities, and have confidence and belief in themselves. Most importantly, Ted wants to help build his players’ self-esteem to be successful on and off the court. As such, he wants them to take chances, be enthusiastic, hustle, and never give up, as well as to value competitiveness, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. In placing particular focus on the game’s fundamentals, he is committed to helping his players reach their potential and help prepare them to play basketball at the highest level possible.
